Privacy policy.
The short version
FrameDrop has no accounts, no logins, and no analytics. The website is a static page that collects nothing. The app keeps its settings on your Mac and sends your search text to our server for one reason: to answer it.
What we do not collect
No names, no email addresses, no accounts, and no passwords anywhere in the app or on this site. The site sets no cookies, loads no fonts or trackers, and the free trial asks for no payment details. If checkout ever needs your card, that page belongs to our payment provider, and your card details go to them, not to us.
On your Mac
The app stores its own preferences on your device: settings, the trial start date, your licence key, the panel position, and the hotkey. It also keeps a thumbnail cache (up to 128MB) and temporary files for drag export in the system temp folder. All of it is deleted with the app and its container. None of it leaves your Mac.
Search queries
Each search sends the query text, a result count, and the licence filter to our server. Queries carry no identifier and are tied to no account. Ordinary queries are never logged or stored; they live only in short-lived server memory caches. The one exception: queries refused by the adult-content gate are written to the server log as text, so false blocks can be found and fixed. If one of your queries was wrongly refused, email us and quote it.
Third parties that necessarily see requests
- Our hosting provider serves the search API over an encrypted connection.
- Thumbnails load from our own image bucket or from the Wikimedia Commons CDN.
- Copying or dragging an image fetches the full original from its source host.
Those servers see a normal web request, including your IP address, the same as any site you visit. We share nothing with advertisers or data brokers, because there is nothing to share.
Your rights
We hold no per-user data to show you. If you believe we hold something of yours, such as a refused query excerpt or a support email, write to fent.zahid@gmail.com and we will provide or delete what we can reasonably identify.
Children
FrameDrop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. The image corpus is filtered but not guaranteed clean, so supervision is advised.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date above will move and the change will be described here. Continued use after that point means you accept the new version.
